Victoria Lavington Named March Student of the Month
Victoria Lavington, a senior at Steamboat Springs High School is Rotary’s Student of the Month for March, 2008. She is the daughter of Matthew Lavington and Patricia Buckles of Tree Haus Road in Steamboat Springs. . She was honored at the regular meeting of the Steamboat Spring Rotary Club on Tuesday (March 18).
Victoria was a Rotary summer exchange student in 2007, traveling to Valencia Spain. Foreign environs are nothing new for her. She has lived with her family in Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan, the Philippines and Peru before moving to Steamboat Springs as a high school freshman.
“Victoria’s experiences living abroad, her open mind, her endless curiosity and intrinsic drive make her one of the most unique individuals I have ever taught,” SSHS Social Studies teacher Meghan Hanson said.
Lavington is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society and editor of the high school yearbook.
Rotary student coordinator P.J. Wharton presented Student of the Month honors to Victoria. “She has been a wonderful asset to her school, her community and her family,” Wharton said. “We’re delighted to honor her today.” CLICK ON PICTURE BELOW!

Kaeli Nolte Named Rotary Student of the Month
Kaeli Nolte, a 3rd year student at the Lowell Whiteman School is Rotary’s Student of the Month on February 19th. She was joined by her mother, Dr. Linda Nolte and JoAnne Lasko, Academic Dean at LWS at a presentation at the Steamboat Spring Rotary Club on Tuesday.
“Kaeli embodies the finest qualities of leadership and service,” JoAnne Lasko said. She is an active EPYCS (El Pomar Youth Community Service) volunteer, doing presentations, formulating the school chapter’s mission statement, reviewing grant requests, and selecting grant recipients.
P.J. Wharton Tapped as February Rotarian of the Month
A strategic plan encompassing three to five years is in its final stage of development thanks to the efforts of Rotarian (and Rotary Board Member) P.J. Wharton. The plan envisions modest growth and expanded local and international community service. Wharton received the Rotarian of the Month cup and recognition at the February 19th meeting of the Club.
